April Monthly Recap

April was a crazy month and packed to the gills, and when it wasn’t, I was under the weather. The month kicked off with my sister-in-law’s wedding, followed by 2 photos sessions the next weekend. My down time was filled with rest and recovery. At the very end of the month, Lexi turned TWO (what?!), and we took a little trip to the Omaha Zoo. I will recap that trip in the May post.

Read. Watch. Listen. Learn.

Read

I am using Goodreads to track my reading, rate books and write some reviews. My reading definitely slowed down as work’s high season started, photo sessions hit the calendar, and not feeling well. Also, I wasn’t loving the books this month so it took longer to finish them.

Books Completed in April: 4 books

  • If I Had Your Face – Frances Cha
    • Interesting story about a culture I know very little about. Didn’t love the ending.
  • Eat, Pray, #FML – Gabrielle Stone
    • Do not recommend. At all. Wish I could take back listening to it.
  • American Royals – Katharine McGee
    • I actually liked the concept of this book, but I didn’t love the relationships between characters and I will most likely not read the sequel.
  • Building a StoryBrand – Donald Miller
    • I recommend as a professional book and anyone trying to build a personal brand.

YTD Total: 22 of 41 books

Watch

  • Sorry, Booked Solid – I love Jordyn’s booktube channel. She makes videos recapping books she’s read, and I like it for book recommendations. The video I linked to is all about the Selection series which I have read so it was interesting to see what her thoughts on the books were.
  • Jessica Hickson – She was at the top of an MLM for 5 years and realized it isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Now, she is on a mission to educate and expose the secrets of this type of company.
    • I’ve watched plenty of anti-MLM videos, and I like Jessica’s insider insight and her personality. She actually reacts to her OWN posts from her MLM days. It’s so interesting to hear her perspective.

Listen

I listen to a lot of podcasts, audiobooks, and music. Here are the highlights from the past month.

  • Set Me Ablaze – Jesus Culture, Worship Together, Bryan & Katie Torwalt
  • Up-Lifting Gym Jams – I have created my own clean, uplifting jams that spur on the motivation.

Learn

I love learning new things and am making space for more future learnings.

  • Rest. And rest some more, especially when your body tells you to slow down and heal. I went to bed earlier and tried to make sleep a priority during this past month when I wasn’t feeling well
  • Sewing Machine Maintenance. I did a lot of sewing at the beginning of the year so I thought I should make sure my machine is up to snuff. I watched this lady with a fantastic accent clean her machine. Very informational.

What are you looking forward to in May?

Let me know in the comments.
