My husband’s coworker has two 20-year-old pear trees that are weighted down with ripe Bartlett pears. We ended up picking one plastic crate in under 30 minutes. I have so many pears and so few recipes that call for them. So… I headed over to Pinterest and found a plethora of fresh pear recipes. I spent quite a few evenings baking.
Here is the week’s roundup:
Recommendation: Add a few more pears and put it in a 9×12 pan instead. There was a lot of crumble topping compared to the pears. Or just add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it’s perfect!
Recommendation: I love this recipe, but next time I want to try adding in cinnamon and lemon juice from the Notes section. I completely missed this until the bread was in the oven. I love cinnamon in bread! Very moist bread and golden crust on the outside.
Recommendation: This is a good recipe for those pears that are almost too ripe and if you have a lot of pears leftover (like I do!). This is easy pear butter and only calls for it to sit on the stove for an hour, but I would slow cook it for longer to get a thicker consistency—mine is more of an applesauce texture. This recipe doesn’t call for pressure cooking (canning) them, but I water bath canned them so they would last longer than a week in the refrigerator and I could package them in Christmas gifts this year.
Recommendation: This recipe calls them a dessert, but I’d consider them breakfast! I used fresh pears instead of heavy syrup canned pears, so I added cinnamon sugar on top of the fruit before pinching the dough together. I would have added more pears, but these still turned out amazing! This recipe was super simple and pretty quick to make and bake. If you do not eat them right away, store in the refrigerator.
Do you have any delicious pear recipes? I’d love to hear your recommendations as well.
