This was the perfect snow photo session. I have been asking my dear friend and neighbor, Sarina, to go out in the snow with me to take photos every time it has snowed the past 2 months to this particular spot. It’s a tree-lined drive that is absolutely beautiful. Sadly, when the Derecho came through last summer, it knocked out quite a few trees along this area. The owner, Amy (another friend & neighbor), expressed such sadness when she compares it to before the storm. She also graciously allows me to take photos here at the end of her drive. I have the most amazing neighborhood.
Sarina is a trooper! It was only 5 degrees outside, and we went out to take a few photos quickly. I mean, we were done in less than 10 minutes because it was frigid cold. We hopped back in the truck and couldn’t feel our fingers. I appreciate Sarina for so many reasons and on this day, it was her willingness to go along with my antics (regardless of the weather).

The photos highlight the light snowfall, and the contrast of the bright, white snow with the rich, dark trees and attire. I love the detail you can see in the tiny snowflakes falling. It was actually surprising that there was hardly any wind because that is rare during Iowa winters.
In the past, I haven’t shot in the snow much – you know, because it is cold. This winter I have had 3 snow photo sessions. And I have loved every single one of them! Would you consider a snow photo session? Do you like the idea of it, but would rather stay inside? That was definitely me for the last couple of years.
Thanks again, Sarina!
